Mrs. Mildred Virginia Storer, 90 of Cumberland, died Saturday February 28, 2004 at her residence.

She was born on March 11, 1913 in Cumberland, Maryland, the daughter of the late John I. and Frances (Martin) Vandegrift. She was preceded in death by her husband, Galen E. Storer on October 13, 1983. She was also preceded in death by a four brothers Edgar Vandegrift, William A. Vandegrift, John F. Vandegrift, and Carl S. Vandegrift.

Mrs. Storer was a member of the First Baptist Church and attended the Cresaptown United Methodist Church and the Trinity Assembly of God Church with her daughter. Mrs. Storer was a Navy Veteran of WW II and retired from Storer Brothers Inc. as the Secretary/Treasurer. She was a 1930 graduate of Allegany High School, attended West Hampton College, the University of Richmond, was a member of the Cumberland Chapter #56 O.E.S., the Ladies Shrine, the Women’s Sport Club, Civic Club, the Y.M.C.A. Auxiliary, and she was active in many community activities.

Surviving is a daughter Gayle S. Yost and her husband John of Cumberland: two grandchildren Bethany Witt of Hagerstown and Robert Witt and his wife Tricia of Cumberland, two great grandchildren Tori Witt and Logan O’Brien. Also surviving is a sister Dorothy Fleming of Newport, North Carolina, Steve and Linda Snoots and staff at New Hope had become her extended family.

Per her request her body has been cremated and private family graveside services will be conducted at Rose Hill Cemetery, Cumberland with the Rev. Harold R. McClay, Jr. and Rev. Jerry and Rebecca Wagner officiating.

Hafer Funeral Service, P.A. Chapel of the Hills 1302 National Hwy, LaVale is handling the arrangements.
